Helping making it sense of
it all, Apple has added a new section its Web
site –
Apps for
Everything – featuring themed
collections of iPhone apps and tips related to
specific topics such as
Keeping
Current;
The Great Outdoors;
Cooking;
Travel and Money;
etc.

Ever wanted to type or
sketch something quickly right there, on the Mac
OS desktop, without first opening an application
for it? Well,
Conjure (now at
v.4.1) offers you just that. You can do more
than type or sketch, too, but actually
brainstorm with mind maps. The new version is
Snow Leopard compatible and offers new
backdrops, a Knife tool "for cutting anything",
and more. See the company's website for video
demonstrations and a free trial version.

Now that Apple has come out
with an iPod Nano that also records video, the
obvious question is: is it as good, or better,
than Pure Digital's Flip Mino, or Kodak's Zi8.
Wonder no more:
Macworld has done a
head-to-head comparison – throwing in the
Apple iPhone 3GS for good measure. The results
speak for themselves.

Autograph
by Ten One Design, does what should have been
possible years ago, namely sign your name
digitally using your laptop's trackpad. The app
resides in the menu bar, can be invoked by a
hotkey, and you must sign with your finger
– not a stylus. At this stage, it's also
limited only to unibody MacBooks using the
latest MacOS X version, Snow Leopard. On the
plus side, it costs only $7 (free if you buy the
company's
Pogo Sketch app) and
there's a free/trial version with no time limit
that adds a watermark to the signature.
