VectorWorks Architect training at RRU

44a-ModelSansSite
Our popular Friday-afternoon courses on VectorWorks Architect for architects, designers and other building professionals returns to Royal Roads University for three projected runs.
Now based on VectorWorks Architect 2008 (notwithstanding v2009 is about to be released), it has also been renamed VectorWorks Architect: What Every User Should Know – in recognition of the fact that the breadth and depth of the software is now such that it is no longer possible to convey all aspects of VectorWorks Architect for the real world in such a short timeframe. However, the course will show you how to make proper and efficient use of the software’s design tools in the context of a three-storey townhouse, from conceptual design through creating construction drawings and renderings, at scales ranging from keyplan down to detail.
The course is beneficial both to beginners and to established users who haven’t had time to learn the software thoroughly and feel they could benefit from a good grounding. Detailed and illustrated online reference notes will allow everyone to progress at their own speed, during lessons and at home. Read More...

Dream on…

Sarah panted slightly as she reached the Billings station of the Gloria (Vic Transit) line from Sooke and blew a sigh of relief. There would be another coach in five minutes — there usually is, during rush hour – but on this occasion she had agreed to meet Janice at Langford. Usually they met at Millstream, where the Sooke line met the Island line from Duncan, but today Janice insisted they meet at Langford, for some reason, and no later than 08:30 sharp. Why, she wouldn't say.

"Gloria" (Vic Transit) – a step closer

IntersectionFlyover
Three years after our proposal to implement a Curitiba-like solution to the ever-worsening problem of rapid transit in the Greater Victoria region, we're pleased to see in today's Times Colonist that it is beginning to be realized, with the BC government's welcome announcement of funding for bus-only lanes, with flyovers over busy intersections. All that remains now is to see an expansion of this to a network that covers all the main arteries in the region, in accordance with our route map—and the adoption of the name, of course (which we offer, free of charge).
