By capitalizing on the width of key arterial routes
of Victoria and the Capital Region, "Gloria" (Vic
Transit) offers the benefits of a fast commuter rail
network at a fraction of the cost, complementing any
rail solution that may be developed (we hope) on the
E&N Railway
Its winning combination of fast, dedicated coach lanes, frequent service, stations at key junctions throughout the region and an easily-understood route map makes travel to the city centre quick and easy. This in turn should encourage the growth and revitalization of underused downtown areas (e.g. Rock Bay, the Harris Green neighbourhood and Gov't/Douglas/Blanshard corridors), while making settlement in outlying areas a practical proposition for commuters, shoppers, and visitors alike.
In due course, this network may be converted to a regional light rail system.
